Spirit of the North Resort on Leech Lake is one of the most popular resorts I travel to every summer for family portrait sessions. This super fun and wonderful family all came together from Minnesota and Tennessee to celebrate their parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. Due to the frequency of times I’ve been to the resort, I know the property very well. If you are looking to book a portrait session while you are staying here, an evening session is the best time. After all, photography is all about the light and the way the resort sits in juxtaposition to the lake, it’s the only time we can get that big beautiful lake as your backdrop.

Another special thing about this resort is the beautiful gravel road lined with trees right when you come into the resort. This road, just right on the edge of the entrance of the property, is the other special spot that both my clients and I love to use as it is absolutely gorgeous!
