This wonderful family came all of the way from Nebraska to celebrate their mother’s birthday at Hiawatha Beach Resort on Leech Lake. While together, they thought it was the perfect time to capture some family portraits to document this important milestone.

Hiawatha Beach Resort on Leech Lake is one of my most favorite resorts to photograph at, so I was excited to learn this is where they were vacationing. The grounds, the beach, the bridge, you name it, is it a gorgeous property!

The only thing that was a challenge this summer (besides the heat and drought) were the smokey skies from the Canadian wild fires, which put a damper on how beautiful the sky and the lake typically are. I guess the lesson here is you just can’t control mother nature, and you just make the best of it. It will be a summer to remember for sure!
