2021 has been one of the warmest, smokiest and yet, busiest summers I’ve seen in the 17 years I’ve lived here. It’s amazing to feel like life is almost back to normal with the buzz of tourists visiting the Leech Lake area. Our beautiful lakes and forests bring vacationers and second home owners to our area whom generously support our local small businesses. I’m one of those business owners, a portrait photographer, whom is grateful to have the opportunity to meet and capture memories of families being together.

It’s so much fun and humbling to meet so many amazing people that love to visit where I call home. Some vacation year after year at a lake resort that their parents took them to when they were little. We also get lot’s of visitors where this might be a much anticipated first trip ever to Northern Minnesota. No matter what brings you to the Leech Lake area, there are so many picturesque places to visit during your stay.

Often I’m asked if I will to travel where my clients are staying, and my answer is a resounding “YES”! In fact, about 99% of my sessions in the summer is traveling to my clients. I’ve traveled as far as Longville, Park Rapids and Bemidji as well, but will absolutely travel farther.

This amazing and FUN family were all vacationing together at Horseshoe Bay Lodge Resort on Leech Lake (one of my other favorite locations). Horseshoe Bay Lodge has one of the largest grounds to use, and the views of Leech Lake are absolutely stunning!
